Frequently asked questions

How are sleep disorders diagnosed?

Sleep disorders, such as snoring, sleep apnea, or insomnia are diagnosed through a sleep study.

What is a sleep study?

A sleep study—also referred to as a “sleep test”—is a simple test that tracks your sleep, breathing, and nighttime habits to properly diagnose sleep disorders like sleep apnea and insomnia. There are a few different types of sleep studies—some are done in a lab, some are done at home. Your sleep study with Careica Health will be done at-home, from the comfort of your own bed!

Do I need a referral?

A referral from a doctor, dentist, or healthcare professional is required to participate in a sleep study. You can ask your doctor for a referral to Careica Health for a sleep study, or we can help you in obtaining a referral from your doctor! Book a free discovery call with us to get started.

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept all major insurance plans, including Green Shield Canada, Canada Life, Sunlife, Manulife, Blue Cross, Empire Life, and more. We can also submit your insurance claim directly, if your provider allows it.

How much does my insurance cover?

The extent of your insurance coverage depends on your specific provider and plan. If you have a health savings account (HSA), it can be used to top up your coverage. If you are not sure what your plan covers, we can help determine your coverage!

What if I don’t want to go on CPAP therapy?

While CPAP is considered the gold standard for sleep apnea treatment, it’s not the only option. We offer flexible treatment solutions, including oral appliances and more, which can effectively treat your snoring and sleep apnea without the need for CPAP. Additionally, it’s worth noting that CPAP masks have improved significantly over the years, with many low-profile and comfortable choices now available. We’re here to help you find the right solution that works best for you and your specific situation!

Why is it important to treat my sleep disorder?

Treating sleep disorders like snoring, sleep apnea, and insomnia is vital for improving your quality of life and overall health. Untreated sleep disorders put you at a higher risk of several serious health conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease, while also affecting your mood and increasing your risk of a vehicle accident.
